WINNER! WINNER!

winner

Apologies for not publishing this sooner - when we couldn't see each other in person at the MLA conference, I retreated to my natural state as a procrastinator.  Today we reveal the top 4 teams and more telling, the juggernaut team who really buried us in almost all categories:

FIRST - Missouri State Library

SECOND - University City Public Library

THIRD - JCL Reads (Jefferson County)

FOURTH - St. Louis Public Library

Thanks to all the teams and their captains who are making this the longest running reading competition in the world.

WINNER WINNER!

For the first time in the history of this major competition, we had an end of season TIE. Unsure of how long it would take our Board of Directors to adopt an official tie-breaking procedure, we decided to go with the tried and true "flipping method."  Since we are librarians, coins are not something we throw around so instead we flipped an audio book.  Another great competitive year is in the books.  Thanks to everyone for all their good reading and blogging this year.

Here are the top teams for the 2019 season:

1. JCL Reads (Jefferson County Library)
2. Missouri State Library - SO CLOSE to being our first back to back winner and a worthy adversary for us to keep an eye on in 2020.
3. University City Public Library
4. River Readers (Missouri River Regional Library)
5. St. Charles City-County Library
6. SJPL Reads (St. Joseph Public Library)
7. St. Louis Public Library
8. Joplin Public Library

Thanks to Kara for her flipping skills.  She makes it look so easy!

Peaceful transition

We pride ourselves here on a tradition of peaceful transition of power.  That doesn't mean it is easy to let go. Take a look at MMRL's hand off to MOSL.

This name plate is in the mail today.
Congrats again to the MISSOURI STATE LIBRARY!

And the winner is...

Missouri State Library Book Blog

FYI - the Missouri State Library doesn't have time for your excuses, this team read like the wind blowing on a mountain top.  They rather handily handed the rest of us our hats this year.
Actually many teams did a great job this year but the big competition was for second place.  Runners up include:
2nd place - JCL reads
4th place - MRRL River Readers
6th place - SJPL Reads
etc..

We are hoping for some photos of the trophy exchange...there was a "mix-up" at MLA that resulted in a delivery problem.  Luckily the trophy is staying in Jefferson City so it will be easily sorted.

Congrats to all the teams for another year of heated competition.  Let's see if we can get that trophy to travel a little further next year!

Congrats to St. Louis Public Library!

The winners of the MO BOOK CHALLENGE were awarded their trophy at the table talk session about the contest at the MO LIB Conference.  Here are two of SLPL's team captains, Kara Kreckeler and Terra Sleep accepting the trophy.

Annie Moots and Christa Van Herreweghe spent their time at the conference recruiting new teams so look for updates in this space.

Winner Winner! Team Awesome takes it!

St. Charles City-County Library District team captain Laura Pirondi accepts the trophy for our 2013 winners 'Team Awesome'.

Yes, that trophy will travel.  Your team could win it next year.  But first, you will have to beat out this crew...
This is an early picture of the crowd that attended the MLA presentation "The Joy of Blogging" and many of them seem to be ready to unseat any/all of us for the trophy.

Which brings us to our final results for our 2013 season:
1.  St. Charles City-County Library District - "Team Awesome"
2.  Missouri River Regional Library - "River Readers"
3.  Jefferson County Library
4.  SCC - St. Charles Community College
5.  MOSL - Missouri State Library
6.  Joplin Public Library
7.  Brentwood Public Library
8.  Fontbonne University

Congrats to all and good luck capturing the trophy for our 2014 season.  Stay tuned for a scoring survey and other new ideas.
